This area represents the final step in the sales process. The checkout counters should be illuminated so that the staff can work comfortably and avoid any errors in transactions.

Design Tips

•  Proper lighting should enable sales personnel to read price tags, operate the register, process credit cards and bag the merchandise.

• The color temperature and color rendering characteristics of the lighting should be consistent with those at the rack and in the fitting room. This will avoid a customer making a last minute decision to reject merchandise due to changes in perceived color and texture.
